AMD Introduces the New and Phenom-enal Athlon X2 7000 Series
Hardware aficionados have been waiting for AMD to release its dual-core version of the Phenom, and now the company finally has - under the guise of a new Athlon X2 processor. The Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition is the flagship model, but at 2.7 GHz, it's still in tough against both the Core 2 Duo and Athlon 64 X2 models.
OCZ Enters the Enthusiast CPU Cooler Market: Gladiator Max Review
The CPU cooler market continues to evolve, with high-end models coming all shapes and sizes. You can add another one of the list, as OCZ has moved up to the enthusiast market with their latest cooler, the Gladiator Max. The heatsink uses the popular copper heat pipes + aluminum alloy fins design, and OCZ has matched it with a low-noise 120mm fan, but we'll see how it stacks up in the cooling department.
14 Million Units and Counting: The Netbook Market Explodes
The netbook is not only the hot holiday gift for 2008, it's also a marketing phenomenon, with 14 million units sold in its first full year. The market is segmenting as well, with 9-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch models vying for your dollar, and a growing series of "lifestyle netbooks" in new colors, patterns and form factors. The only question is whether these will help or hurt the traditional notebook segment.
Using SECC to Combine Features with a Low Price: SilverStone Kublai KL03 Review
Selecting a high-end case can be a difficult proposition, as overall construction, features, platform support, cooling, and especially price, must all be taken into consideration. A pure aluminum design is preferable, but that can also come with a heavy case of "sticker shock". SilverStone may have the answer, as their Kublai Series looks to offer a high-end feature set, but uses SECC steel to help keep costs lower.

The New Core i7 Processor: Intel's Quad-Core of Solace - 11/24/2008A new Intel CPU + Socket announcement isn't exactly a rare occurrence, but the Core i7 is far more than just a simple revision or die shrink. Instead, it changes the way Intel views a processor, adding functionality like an integrated memory controller and Hyper-Threading, while setting desktop performance records on demand.
Aiming for the High-end Gamer: NZXT Avatar Gaming Mouse Review - 11/19/2008Although the gaming mouse market continues to be dominated by major players like Logitech, Microsoft and Razer, there seems to be no shortage of companies introducing new designs. NZXT is one of them, and this gamer-oriented company is putting its weight behind the Avatar Gaming Mouse, an ambidextrous design with user-configurable DPI settings and 7 customizable buttons.
The Intel X58 Express: Don't Fight the Future - 11/08/2008The new Core i7 processor is getting all the press, and deservedly so, but Intel also unveiled a brand new X58 platform as well. As much as the Core i7 changes the Intel processor landscape, so too does the X58 Express redefine the chipset's features and duties, as well as keeping its eye firmly on the future and not the past.
