Its simply amazing to see them come up with all kinds of solutions for your computing needs. Their new line of NexStar external solutions is geared towards those that know better than to walk into just about any store and grab an external storage unit that has some crummy hard drive with 2mb cache and of an unknown manufacturer. Of course you can do this same thing on just about any kind of USB external unit, but the NexStar delivers a few extras that need to be noted, so lets take a look at what Vantec's newest offering has to offer you. Storage AOpen GeForce FX 5900 XT - ReviewPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 04:02:45 EDTHotHardware - Like some other recently released 5900 XTs, this model from AOpen comes pre-overclocked, with a core clock speed that's a full 30MHz higher than NVIDIA's recommendations. It's got a custom cooling solution, a decent bundle, and it's also priced to sell. Head on over and take a look! Full story   blurb link | Send this Story to a Friend |  more... Video Behind Closed Doors: DDR2 MarketingPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 03:57:47 EDTLegitReviews - As you can tell the marketing behind DDR2 memory is far from an open/shut case by any means. From the naming of the DDR2 memory lines to the differentiating of brand lines based on performance we can see that each companies marketing department took a different approach to the DDR2 battlefields. Sad as it may be in the end it is the consumer that bites the bullet. If we, the professional media, can't keep things straight how do these companies expect the public to be able to...! DVD Leadtek WinFast A400GT TDH (GeForce 6800 GT) - ReviewPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 02:49:49 EDTBjorn3d - Leadtek is one of the oldest NVIDIA board partners around. They actually have been working with NVIDIA since the GeForce 256 back with their WinFast GeForce256 DDR. We at Bjorn3D are always excited when we get a board from Leadtek since they have always offered a good board with custom cooling and a decent bundle. Video Chaintech VNF3-250 Motherboard - ReviewPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 02:45:57 EDTAllAMD - The nForce3 150 was met with nothing more than a fizzle in the enthusiast world. So when the nForce3 250 came out, it had to make a big impact. Chaintech offered up this chipset in ther VNF3-250. The VNF3-250 offers a lot in terms of configuration, but will it live up to its Zenith logo in terms of performance, eventhough there's a tiny Value tagged at the end of it? Motherboards Thermaltake Tower 112 Pure Copper Heatsink - ReviewPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 02:39:00 EDTOCIA - The Thermaltake Tower 112 performed better than all other heatsinks in my book. It cooled the best, looks quite nice standing tall, and has the ability to hold 2 fans on it. It even managed to beat the reigning heatsink champ, the SLK 900. The heatsink can even run silent, with no fans. This I would not recommend. I unplugged the 92mm fan to see what kind of temps I could get. The idle climbed up to 44 Celsius; not so good. Cooling Cable will match satellite in DVR deployment by 2006Posted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 02:23:32 EDTDallas, Texas July 29, 2004 -- Despite a three-year head start, satellite TV providers will lose their DVR edge over cable companies by 2006, according to Internet-Based Video Services, a new white paper from research firm Parks Associates. Although satellite companies began offering DVRs as early as 1999, they will not be able to overcome the advantages cable companies have in offering a complete bundle of fully integrated services. Parks Associates forecasts that, as a result, over one-half of all DVRs deployed by service providers in 2006 will come from the cable MSOs.   Read More... | 3756 bytes more | blurb link | Send this Story to a Friend |  more... Storage Swiftech 8600 Liquid Cooling Kit - ReviewPosted by NgtCrwlr on Tuesday, August 03 @ 01:13:34 EDTOCIA - The three cooling blocks provided in this unit provide cool water to your CPU, GPU, and northbridge chipset. The standard 8600 kit only comes with the CPU block, but the other two may be added onto the order, and believe me, they are well worth it. Having a cool CPU is worthless if you can't keep the chipset cool, which is the link between the memory and CPU. Full story   blurb link | Send this Story to a Friend |  more...
