Don't believe that
static can damage a PC?
Ask any computer manufacturer.
All computers are manufactured in an ESD controlled environment. Manufacturers do their best to shield your PC's
sensitive electronics and data from
the damaging effects of electrostatics, and, when static causes
problems it's something they just won't admit! Hard as the
manufacturers
try, user induced static discharges are a proven cause of
computer problems in the "aftermarket environment." While minimal
static discharges may "just" cause occasional component failure
(culminating in those annoying little glitches that can drive you,
(and the MIS Dept crazy ;) More powerful discharges can cause
permanent damage and data loss.

generation (a by product of any standard (non LCD type monitor) can climb to thousands

What? Don't want to part with $70 don't want
wires and more "little gizmo's" near your computer? Let us suggest a
few remedies that help with eliminating (or at least) reducing static
from your sensitive computer environment:
1)
Boost the humidity in your environment.
2) If
the flooring in your environment is carpeted, Spray with
ElectroSolve

3) If
your flooring is vinyl or epoxy, apply
ElectraGlaze once or
twice a year, this stuff REALLY works!
4)
Placing pads under your keyboard or tower doesn't cut it. It's hocus
